Car painting duration depends on the scope of the work. In our workshop, single panel painting usually takes 1–2 days, and a complete respray takes 5–10 days; minor damage takes 1–3 days, moderate damage takes 5–7 days, and heavy damage takes 2–4 weeks. We do not promise same-day delivery; we provide an exact timeframe after a free assessment at Kepez Akdeniz Sanayi Sitesi industrial estate.
Car painting duration table
The durations below are general, owner-approved ranges for our workshop. Depending on the condition of the vehicle, the timeframe may vary within these ranges or as determined during the assessment.
| Service | Typical duration | Price range |
|---|---|---|
| Single panel painting (door, fender, hood, roof) | 1–2 days | 3,500–10,000 TL |
| Bumper painting | 1–2 days | 2,500–5,000 TL |
| Minor damage repair | 1–3 days | Determined during assessment |
| Moderate damage repair | 5–7 days | Determined during assessment |
| Complete vehicle respray | 5–10 days | 25,000–80,000 TL |
| Heavy damage repair | 2–4 weeks | Determined during assessment |
This table is a guide, not a promise. Hidden damage discovered during disassembly or waiting for parts can extend the time. Conversely, rushing preparation to cut time reduces the quality of the finish.
What stages does a vehicle go through when entering paint?
Most of the painting duration is not spent spraying paint; it is spent on preparation before entering the booth. The stages are roughly as follows:
- AssessmentDamage and paint thickness are checked, and the scope of work is determined. Assessment is free in our workshop.
- Disassembly and damage repairParts are disassembled; dents, scratches, and cracks are repaired. The duration varies most at this stage.
- Body filler, primer, and sandingThe surface is smoothed, primer is applied, each coat is allowed to cure, and it is sanded down.
- MaskingAreas that will not be painted are masked off.
- Painting and clear coat in the boothBasecoat and clear coat are applied in a dust-free oven-baked booth (paint booth with baking) and cured with heat.
- Reassembly, machine polishing, and inspectionParts are reassembled, the surface is polished if necessary, and the vehicle is inspected under natural daylight.

What extends or shortens the turnaround time?
Painting the same panel can take different amounts of time on two different vehicles. The main factors affecting duration:
- Number of panels: Multiple panels cure in sequence in the booth; each panel requires its own preparation.
- Damage type: Repairing scratches, dents, rust, and cracks requires extra time before paint.
- Color: Pearl or three-stage colors require more coats and waiting time.
- Parts availability: If replacement parts are needed, waiting for their delivery is necessary.
- Hidden damage: Damage uncovered after disassembly can expand the scope of work.
- Appointment planning: Providing advance details with photos and bringing the vehicle by appointment reduces waiting time.
Tip: The only safe way to shorten duration is proper planning: show the damage clearly, mention previous repairs, and clarify the scope from the start.
Why does single panel painting take 1–2 days?
Painting a single panel may seem quick; however, there are preparation, primer, paint, clear coat, and curing stages. Each stage waits for the previous one to finish. Therefore, even for a single panel such as a door, fender, or bumper, it is necessary to plan for a full day. If the scope is minor and there is no damage, this duration may stay around 1 day.
For prices regarding panel painting, you can check our panel painting prices page.
Why does a complete respray take 5–10 days?
Because a complete respray covers all exterior surfaces, it requires disassembly, extensive preparation, primer and sanding on numerous panels, booth turns, and reassembly. Not all panels may be sprayed in the booth on the same day; panels are painted in batches according to booth scheduling. The vehicle's size, condition of existing paint, and desired scope (door jambs, trunk) all affect duration.
We explained when a complete respray makes sense in our spot repair vs. complete paint article; for the service, check the Antalya complete vehicle painting page.
When does paint dry?
In an oven-baked booth, the surface becomes dry to the touch in a short time. However, full hardening of the paint can take days and weeks depending on the paint and clear coat system used. This information is general guidance; follow your technician's instructions for exact timing.
| Stage | What happens? |
|---|---|
| Booth exit | The surface is dry to the touch, but internal curing continues |
| First days | Avoid adhesive tape, stickers, and hard contact |
| First weeks | Gentle washing; do not apply wax or polish |
| Later period | Normal washing and maintenance; wait for technician advice before polishing |
When can a vehicle be washed after painting?
The general recommendation is to avoid washing a freshly painted vehicle during the first few days, and if washing is necessary, wash gently by hand using plenty of water and a soft sponge. Automatic brush washes and high-pressure water can damage fresh paint in the initial weeks. Clean bird droppings and insect residue promptly by softening them with plenty of water.
Caution: Follow the instructions given by your workshop for exact washing and polishing schedules. This section is general information and does not apply identically to every paint system.
We explained post-paint maintenance in more detail in our article on how often machine polishing should be done.
Duration by sample scenarios
The following examples illustrate general expectations; the actual duration for every vehicle is determined during the assessment.
- Scuffed bumper corner: Preparation, primer, paint, and clear coat; usually completed within 1–2 days.
- Scratches and small dents on a door: Classified as minor damage because dent repair and painting are done together, taking 1–3 days.
- Side panels including door, fender, and bumper: Multiple panels; 5–7 days may be needed for preparation and color matching.
- Faded vehicle paint, full restoration: Disassembly, complete preparation, and multi-stage booth schedule; 5–10 days.
- Accident-damaged vehicle, structural repair: Sourcing parts and bodywork; 2–4 weeks.
As can be seen, the main variable in the timeframe is not the "paint" itself, but the preparation and bodywork before painting. That is why two vehicles painting the same panel in the same color can still finish at different times.
How long does booth curing take?
Thermal curing in the booth generally takes about half an hour to an hour depending on the paint and clear coat system; the exact duration is determined by the product's technical data sheet. This is a small part of the overall job. A panel exiting the booth does not mean the vehicle is ready for delivery: reassembly, polishing, and inspection stages continue.
Because multiple vehicles share the same booth, waiting for booth turns can also occur. That is why even for single panel painting, the workflow spans across the day.
Which jobs have the most variable duration?
- Hood and roof: Large surface area, more sanding and paint; even for a single panel, it can take more than half a day.
- Door: Reassembly time increases because door handles, moldings, and window seals must be removed.
- Bumper: Disassembly and reassembly are added if parking sensors and cameras are present.
- Metallic or pearl color: May require more coats and flash-off waiting time.
What happens on delivery day?
You will be notified when the vehicle is ready. Upon delivery, inspect the vehicle in daylight, compare panels side by side, and ask any questions at the workshop. If you notice any issue, mentioning it before delivery is the easiest way. You can find pre-delivery checks in our car paint delivery checklist article.
Keep the vehicle in the shade during the first weeks after painting, clean contaminants like bird droppings promptly, and avoid brush car washes. These simple steps prolong the life of fresh paint.
Is duration an indicator of quality?
A job completed very quickly should raise suspicion, but a long-lasting job is not automatically high quality either. What matters is being able to explain why it takes that long. A workshop that can explain the stages—such as preparation, primer curing, booth scheduling, and reassembly—can also account for the timeframe.
Very ambitious promises like "same day" usually mean a step will be skipped. For instance, not allowing primer sufficient curing time can lead to bubbling later on, and insufficient drying between paint coats can cause differences in color and gloss. That is why we do not promise same-day delivery.
Can you shorten the turnaround time by preparing before painting?
Emptying personal belongings from inside the vehicle, informing us of accessories on the car (tow bar, sensors, aftermarket parts), and mentioning previous repairs speeds up the work. Sending damage photos beforehand allows the workshop to make advance preparations. These small steps help prevent delays.
- Send photos in advance via WhatsApp.
- Bring the vehicle registration documents and insurance information if needed.
- Discuss any parts that need replacement beforehand.
- State whether the color is custom (original or modified).

Frequently asked questions
How long does car painting take?
In our workshop, single panel painting usually takes 1–2 days, and a complete respray takes 5–10 days. Minor damage repair takes 1–3 days, moderate damage takes 5–7 days, and heavy damage takes 2–4 weeks. The timeline depends on the extent of the damage and preparation.
How many days does bumper painting take?
Bumper painting usually takes 1–2 days. If there are cracks or fractures to repair on the bumper, it can extend to the minor damage timeframe of 1–3 days.
When does the paint dry?
Drying in the booth takes a short time, but full curing of the paint can take days and weeks. Therefore, even after the vehicle is delivered, care must be taken during the first few weeks. The exact duration depends on the paint system.
When can a vehicle be washed after painting?
As a general rule, avoid washing in the first few days; if washing is necessary, do it by hand, with a soft sponge and no high pressure. Follow your technician's specific instructions for the exact timeframe.
Why does a complete respray take 5–10 days?
Because most of the work is preparation: disassembly, sanding, primer, masking, painting, clear coat, drying, reassembly, and quality inspection. As the number of parts increases, waiting for booth turns is also required.
Why does the duration increase on a damaged vehicle?
Before painting, bodywork repair, body filler, primer, and sanding steps are added. If parts need to be sourced, there is also a waiting period. Moderate damage takes 5–7 days, and heavy damage takes 2–4 weeks.
Is same-day delivery possible?
We do not promise same-day delivery. Completing preparation, paint, and drying stages without rushing protects the quality of the result. We provide an exact timeframe after an inspection.
What happens if the delivery date is delayed?
The timeframe may be extended if additional repairs emerge once parts are removed or if replacement parts are delayed. In such a situation, you will be informed. We always respond to WhatsApp messages.
