Spot repair painting involves painting only the damaged area and blending the color into the surrounding surface; it does not paint the entire panel. For minor damage, it usually takes 1–3 days. In Antalya, prices range approximately 3,000–5,000 TL for a single door, 3,500–6,000 TL for a fender, and 2,500–5,000 TL for a bumper. If you send a photo of the damage to our workshop in Kepez Akdeniz Sanayi industrial estate, we can tell you whether spot repair or full panel painting is required.
Send close-up and wide-angle photos of the damage, and we will tell you whether spot repair or panel painting is needed. In-workshop assessment is free.
What is spot repair painting?
Spot repair painting is the process of repairing and painting only the damaged area instead of the entire panel. The surface is prepared, paint and clear coat are applied to the damaged section, and the paint edges are blended smoothly into the surrounding original paint. In everyday talk, this is called spot blending or sometimes "smart repair" (mini repair). This page also covers minor damage repair.
The logic is simple: repainting an entire door for minor damage like a parking scrape is both expensive and means losing the panel's original paint. That is why spot repair painting is preferred for small damage.
Spot repair painting or full panel painting?
The difference between the two is the size of the painted area. This is one of the most frequently asked questions; the table below summarizes the choice.
| Spot repair painting | Full panel painting | |
|---|---|---|
| Painted area | Damaged section and blending area | Entire panel (door, fender, bumper, etc.) |
| Suitable damage | Localized scratch, scuff, minor dent | Extensive damage, multiple scratches, faded or peeling paint |
| Original paint | Largely preserved | Panel is completely refinished |
| Cost | Usually lower | Usually higher |
| Risk | Blending lines may be noticeable on large, flat surfaces | Color tone difference with adjacent panels, minimized through color matching |
As a rule of thumb, spot repair painting makes sense if the damage is confined to a small area of the panel, while full panel painting makes sense if it covers a large portion. On large, flat surfaces that reflect light heavily, such as the roof and the center of the hood, blending lines are more easily noticed; we may recommend full panel painting for these areas. For details, see our article on spot repair vs complete painting.

Car spot repair painting prices
The ranges below are approximate values; the extent of the damage and surface condition will affect the cost. If the entire panel needs painting, prices are listed on our panel painting prices page.
| Service | Price range | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Single door spot repair | 3,000–5,000 TL | 1–3 days |
| Fender spot repair | 3,500–6,000 TL | 1–3 days |
| Bumper spot repair | 2,500–5,000 TL | 1–3 days |
| Mirror / cover | 1,500–3,000 TL | 1–3 days |
| Double door (same side) | 5,000–9,000 TL | 1–3 days |
The price depends on three factors: the size of the damage, surface preparation requirements (a simple scratch vs. a dent requiring body filler), and paint type. Blending is done with greater precision on metallic and pearlescent colors.
How is spot repair painting done?
- Damage assessmentThe scratch depth and damage size are checked to determine whether spot repair or panel painting is needed.
- Surface preparationThe damaged area is sanded. Body filler and primer are applied if necessary (see body filler and primer processes).
- Color preparationPaint is mixed according to the vehicle's paint code and matched to the current tone with digital color matching, taking any sun fading into account.
- MaskingSurrounding panels are masked and protected.
- Paint and blendingPPG or Standox paint is applied in thin layers inside a dust-free booth; edges are smoothly blended into the surrounding paint.
- Clear coat and oven bakingClear coat is applied, the paint is cured in the oven, and the surface is inspected before delivery.
What types of damage are suitable for spot repair painting?
- Scuffs and scratches on bumper corners (see bumper repair with spot repair painting)
- Fender edge and lower door dings
- Small components such as mirror caps
- Localized damage on a surface with intact, sound surrounding paint
If the paint is generally faded, the clear coat is dull, or there are multiple damaged spots on the same panel, spot repair painting may not give the desired result. In such cases, the entire panel is repainted. If the scratch is very superficial, repainting may not even be necessary; see our scratch repair and touch-up page.

Tip: Take photos from two angles: a close-up of the damage and a wider shot showing the whole panel. The wide shot shows where the damage is located on the panel and the blending area; the close-up reveals the depth.
Does spot repair painting reduce vehicle value?
Spot repair painting leaves a record of repainting on the panel; this is a normal result of any repair. However, because a smaller area is treated compared to repainting the entire panel, most of the original paint is preserved. If you plan to sell the car or have an inspection, discussing the planned work beforehand is recommended.
Aftercare for spot repair painting
Newly applied paint and clear coat may not reach full hardness during the first few days. Waiting 7 days before washing the vehicle after delivery is sufficient; during this time, avoid stiff brushes and high-pressure washing. There is no need to wax or polish the painted area immediately. Since chemical contaminants such as bird droppings, insects, and tree sap can leave marks on the clear coat, rinse them off with plenty of water as soon as you notice them.
Check before getting spot repair painting
- Is the damage confined to a single panel and a limited area?
- Is the surrounding paint intact, or is there peeling or blistering? If surrounding paint is deteriorated, spot repair will not last long.
- Is the scratch or dent near a body crease or panel edge? Blending is easier along edges.
- Is your vehicle painted in a metallic or pearlescent color? Blending is more delicate on these colors; simply send a photo and we will evaluate it.
- Do you have plans to sell or inspect the vehicle? Since it will register as a repainted area, let's discuss it in advance.
If most of your answers to this checklist are "no" or "not sure," full panel painting may be a better option. Simply send a photo; once we see the damage, we will clearly tell you which approach is realistic. We do not recommend repainting the entire panel unnecessarily, nor will we mislead you if spot repair would not produce good results.
Why is spot repair painting popular in Antalya?
In Antalya, vehicles are exposed to sunlight, salty air, and tight parking maneuvers throughout the year. Scuffs from parking, door dings, and scratches on bumper corners are therefore very common. Most of this damage is localized while the paint on the rest of the panel remains intact. In such cases, repairing only the damaged area instead of repainting the entire panel protects both your budget and your vehicle's original paint. If the entire panel needs painting, check our panel painting prices.
Frequently asked questions about spot repair painting
How long does spot repair painting take?
Minor damage usually takes 1–3 days. We give an exact timeframe after assessment based on the size of the damage and surface preparation needs.
How much does car spot repair painting cost?
Prices are approximately 3,000–5,000 TL for a single door, 3,500–6,000 TL for a fender, 2,500–5,000 TL for a bumper, and 1,500–3,000 TL for a mirror or cap. It varies depending on the damage; we provide an initial estimate by photo.
Which is better: spot repair or full panel painting?
Spot repair gives better results if the damage is confined to a small area of the panel; full panel painting is better if the damage covers a large area or the overall paint is deteriorated. We can determine which is suitable from a photo.
Will there be a color mismatch or visible patch mark with spot repair painting?
Paint formulated to the vehicle's color code and checked with digital color matching is brought close to the surrounding tone, and the edges are smoothly blended. Nevertheless, the risk of a visible blend line is higher on large, flat, glossy surfaces; we inform you in advance in such cases.
Does spot repair painting reduce the vehicle's value?
The repainted area shows up during an assessment, but because the entire panel is not painted, most of the original paint is preserved. If you have plans to sell, let's discuss the work in advance.
Are smart repair and spot repair painting the same thing?
In everyday use, minor damage repairs are called smart or mini repairs. In our workshop, minor damages are repaired under spot repair painting by repainting only the damaged area.
Is spot repair painting sufficient for bumper scratches?
It may be sufficient if the scratch is confined to a small section of the bumper. If the bumper is scratched in multiple areas or cracked, full bumper painting is required. We can advise from a photo.
