On vehicles driven on more open roads, gravel, or dusty routes around Döşemealtı, the most typical damage is stone chips, seen most often on the hood, front bumper, and the front of fenders. Why does the front surface suffer more damage?
The front surface of a moving vehicle catches everything thrown up by vehicles ahead and the road surface. If the road includes gravel or unpaved sections, this effect increases. That is why the hood, front bumper, front fenders, and headlight surrounds develop speckles more quickly.
Where a stone hits the paint, the clear coat fractures, and sometimes the base color coat flakes off too. When exposed metal comes into contact with moisture, rust starting from a tiny pinpoint can spread beneath the paint.
Repairing stone chips before they spread
These stages reflect general bodywork practice; some may be skipped depending on damage depth.
- Assessment.Whether the chip reached only the clear coat, the color coat, or bare metal is determined during the assessment.
- Decision.If there are only a few spots, spot repair painting is chosen; if a broad area of the hood is peppered, the entire hood is painted.
- Surface preparation.Any rust is removed, and primer is applied.
- Paint and clear coat.PPG and Standox paint is applied in a baking spray booth, and the color tone is matched using digital color matching.
Hood painting or touch-up?
If there are only two or three pinpoint chips, touch-up or spot repair painting is sufficient and quick. If chips are scattered across the upper half of the hood in large numbers, treating each one separately becomes expensive and can cause color mismatch. In such cases, painting the entire panel gives a much cleaner result.

Caution: Applying paint or clear touch-up over a stone chip where rust has already begun is only a temporary cover. As long as rust remains underneath, the paint will blister. The rust must be cleaned first and the surface primed.
Dust, gravel, and vehicle maintenance
When road dust dries, it sticks to the paint surface and leaves fine scratches when wiped. Washing thoroughly with plenty of water first to loosen dust is the key to scratch-free washing. Periodic machine polishing reduces surface dullness, but polishing will not fill the pit created by a stone chip; a pit requires paint.
It is impossible to completely prevent stones thrown from the front. What is possible is noticing minor damage early and repairing it before it grows. A brief daylight inspection of the front surface once a month is enough.
What should you bring when visiting?
No special preparation is required. Bringing the car dry and as clean as possible makes the assessment easier. If you have an insurance claim process, keep your documents with you. Open-road driving and paint lifespan
Near outer city areas, car owners often drive more kilometers. As mileage increases, so does the number of particles hitting the front surface. That is why seeing dozens of tiny chips on the hood after a year is not surprising.
If paint has chipped at the hood edge, the edges are particularly important because the leading edge of the hood is the first point of contact for both stones and wind load. The difference between a stone chip and a dent
A stone chip is a small, pinpoint loss of paint. A dent is a deformation of the panel's shape. Both can occur together, but their solutions differ: a stone chip requires paint, whereas a dent requires panel straightening first and then painting. We do not perform paintless dent repair.
When taking photos, two shots are sufficient: a close-up of the chip and its surroundings, and a wider shot showing the vehicle's entire hood. We will reply and let you know which method is suitable.
First areas inspected on a car arriving from Döşemealtı
During the assessment, we first examine the entire hood, followed by the upper and lower edges of the front bumper. Next, the front section of the front fenders, mirror covers, and the paint transition along the lower edge of the windshield are inspected. The density of stone chips in these areas determines how the paint should be repaired.
Gravel marks can also appear on the side doors and rear quarter panels; small stones thrown by the front wheels especially leave marks along the lower door edges. These marks are usually small but numerous. When there are many tiny marks, painting the whole panel is often a better decision than touching them up individually.

Regarding front hood protection
Protective products applied to the leading edge of the hood are available on the market; we do not provide paint protection films or vehicle wraps, so we cannot offer advice on them.
