Quick answer

Oven-baked auto paint is the process where paint and clear coat are applied in a dust-free, enclosed booth and cured with heat. In our workshop in Kepez Akdeniz Sanayi, we use a dust-free oven-baked booth. Panel painting takes 1–2 days and complete painting takes 5–10 days; car oven-baked paint prices range between 2,500–10,000 TL for a panel and 25,000–80,000 TL for a complete vehicle.

What is oven-baked auto paint?

Oven-baked paint means that the vehicle is painted inside an enclosed booth with controlled airflow, rather than in the open air or an ordinary workshop. Paint and clear coat are sprayed inside the booth, which is then heated to cure the paint. As a result, dust does not settle on the surface, and the paint cures evenly and hard.

The name "oven" comes from the drying phase; however, quality is not determined by heat alone. A dust-free booth, filtered airflow, and using paint suited to the temperature work together to determine the outcome. For a more technical explanation of the concept, you can check our what is oven-baked paint guide; this page covers our service and prices.

Why is oven-baked paint important?

  • No dust or dirt: In an open environment, dust and insects stick to the wet paint. In a dust-free booth, this risk is greatly reduced.
  • Hard and durable surface: Paint and clear coat cured with heat harden more uniformly, increasing resistance to scratches and chemicals.
  • Smooth finish: A controlled environment minimizes the risk of orange peel and runs.
  • Faster drying: Thanks to heat curing, the vehicle does not have to wait for days.

Paint dried without an oven (air-dried) can also look good at first glance. The difference usually shows up months later: premature fading, clear coat peeling, or dust marks on the surface. Our article on clear coat peeling and paint flaking provides details on these symptoms.

Car oven-baked paint prices

Oven-baked painting is not a separate product; it is the method used for all paint jobs at our workshop. That is, both panel painting and complete painting are carried out in a dust-free oven-baked booth. Prices according to the scope of work are as follows:

Prices are owner-approved ranges for 2026; the final price is given after photos or an assessment.

Steps in oven-baked painting

  1. Assessment and disassemblyPaint condition and damage are inspected; trim accessories on the panel to be painted are removed.
  2. Sanding, body filler, primerOld paint is sanded down, body filler is applied if needed, and the surface is primed. This stage determines the lifespan of the paint.
  3. Color matchingThe formula is determined with digital color matching, and PPG or Standox paint is prepared.
  4. Paint and clear coat in a dust-free boothPaint and clear coat are sprayed inside an enclosed booth.
  5. Heat curingThe booth is heated, and the paint and clear coat harden.
  6. Assembly and inspectionParts are reinstalled, the surface is inspected under special lighting, and the vehicle is delivered.

What makes the difference in a dust-free oven-baked booth?

In a standard workshop, thousands of dust particles float invisible in the air. Wet paint traps these particles, creating small bumps on the surface. In a dust-free booth, air is filtered and a controlled airflow is maintained inside; therefore, the sprayed paint cures into a smooth, even film.

A smooth surface also reduces the machine polishing needed afterward. Because of this, a well-executed oven-baked paint job requires minimal post-delivery corrections.

Tip: When visiting a workshop, ask to see the booth. A clean, filtered, and enclosed painting environment is the easiest indicator to verify the quality of workmanship.

What determines the price of oven-baked paint?

Booth usage alone does not determine the price. The main cost items lie in the rest of the work:

  • Preparation: Stripping old paint, and the amount of body filler and sanding. The longer preparation takes, the higher the price.
  • Type of paint and clear coat: Solid, metallic, pearlescent, and three-stage colors require different materials and labor.
  • Surface size: A bumper and a roof do not cost the same.
  • Disassembly: Removing parts like door handles, trim moldings, sensors, and window seals.
  • Bodywork: If there are dents and dings, straightening is added to the price.

Paint layers and the function of the oven

Vehicle paint generally consists of three main layers: protective primer over metal, followed by the color layer (base coat), and transparent clear coat on top. There may also be body filler or intermediate primer between them. Each layer has its own drying time, and curing temperatures must adhere to specified values. A heated booth brings this drying process under control; layers bond well together, leaving a smooth, hard surface within the first few days.

One should not assume that higher booth heat means better paint. The correct temperature and duration are chosen according to the material's technical specifications. Improperly cured paint will either dull prematurely or crack.

Oven-baked paint for classic and custom cars

In classic car restorations, paint is a component that must endure for years. In such projects, disassembly, bodywork, and primer preparation take a long time; the painting stage is carried out in a dust-free booth. If you have a classic car project, you can visit our classic car restoration page.

Paint and color quality

We use PPG and Standox paint in our workshop. The color is calculated from the code on the vehicle's label and digital matching. Because vehicle paint may have slightly faded under the sun over the years, the formula is verified directly on the car and adjusted as needed. In multi-panel jobs, a controlled blend into adjacent panels ensures that tone differences remain invisible.

Checklist before getting oven-baked painting

  • Ask whether the booth is dust-free and enclosed; ask to see it.
  • Find out the paint brand being used.
  • Ask whether the price covers preparation work (sanding, body filler, primer).
  • Inquire about the delivery time and how many days to wait for the paint to fully cure.
  • Ask for the warranty coverage in writing. We offer guaranteed workmanship.

For delivery day, our delivery inspection checklist is useful. For details regarding duration, see our article on how long auto painting takes.

Care after oven-baked painting

Although the surface of new oven-baked paint is hard, it takes time to fully mature. Avoid pressurized water and brush car washes during the first few days; do not stick tape or decals on the surface. Clean bird droppings and insect residue promptly. In Antalya's summer heat, parking the vehicle in the shade whenever possible extends the life of the clear coat.

When should you come for oven-baked paint?

  • If the paint has dulled or the clear coat has started peeling
  • If panel painting is needed after an accident or scratches
  • If you want to renew the whole vehicle or change its color
  • If you are planning a classic car restoration

Send a photo of the damage, and we will provide an initial price and estimated duration. Assessment at the workshop is free.
