Antalya Paint Repair

Flawless restoration and return to like-new condition for surfaces weathered over time, chipped by stones, or improperly painted.

Quick answer

Paint repair in Antalya is selected based on which layer the damage has reached. Superficial dullness and fine marks are resolved with machine polishing, scratches and stone chips reaching the paint with spot repair painting, and widespread fading, clear coat peeling, and color mismatches with panel painting. Minor damage takes 1–3 days; assessment is free at our workshop in Kepez Akdeniz Sanayi industrial estate.

Types of paint damage and which repair is suitable?

Not every paint defect can be fixed with the same method. Choosing the right method determines both the cost and how long the result will last. The table below summarizes the most common damage we see and the generally suitable repair.

Type of damage, how to tell, and suitable repair. Final decision is made during assessment.

Scratch or paint damage? The fingernail test

Run your fingernail gently across the scratch. If it does not catch, the damage is mostly on the clear coat surface and polishing may be sufficient. If it catches, the scratch has penetrated past the clear coat; there is no permanent solution without adding paint. For details on the test, see our article on the car scratch fingernail test. For scratch-focused work, we also have a scratch repair page.

How much can fading and dullness be restored with polishing?

For mild dullness, polishing is usually sufficient. Polishing removes the thin oxidized layer on the clear coat surface and restores the gloss. However, if the clear coat is already thin or the paint color has faded, each polish removes another thin layer; therefore, continuously polishing the same panel is not a solution.

The limit of polishing is this: if the clear coat has cracked, blistered, or if the underlying color layer is exposed, polishing conceals the damage but does not fix it. On such a panel, repainting is the right choice. For polishing frequency, our article on how often machine polishing should be done will be helpful.

What causes clear coat peeling, and why does polishing not work?

Clear coat peeling occurs when the clear coat loses adhesion to the layer beneath it and flakes away. Common causes include inadequate surface preparation, poor previous paintwork, and years of extreme sun exposure. The area beneath the peeled section is no longer a solid base; applying polish over it only worsens the problem.

The correct approach is to strip the peeling area down to a solid base and prepare the panel anew. You can read our detailed guide on clear coat failure and paint peeling.

Warning: If rust has begun on a panel with peeling clear coat, waiting will increase the cost. If bare metal or primer is visible, bring the vehicle for an assessment soon.

What is digital color matching, and how does it prevent shade differences?

Digital color matching is a method that uses the vehicle's paint code only as a starting point and adjusts the paint formula according to the car's current shade. Even two cars with the exact same paint code fade differently over the years; there are also slight variations between factory batches. Applying paint mixed purely by code can therefore cause a noticeable color difference.

In our workshop, we work with PPG and Standox paint systems. The process generally proceeds as follows: the paint code is identified, the formula is calculated with digital matching, a test spray card is prepared and checked against the vehicle, and the formula is adjusted if needed. For panels with noticeable variance, blending the color into the adjacent panel is also a common technique.

Tip: If you suspect a color difference, inspect the vehicle in daylight from various angles. Metallic and pearlescent colors look different depending on the angle; indoor garage lighting can be deceiving.

How many days does paint repair take, and how much does it cost?

Duration and price vary depending on the extent of the damage. The ranges below are owner-approved panel painting prices; for spot repair and touch-ups, we provide pricing after seeing photos.

Prices are owner-approved ranges for 2026; final price is given after photos or an assessment.

How does the paint repair process work?

  1. AssessmentWe check which layer the damage has reached, as well as the color and clear coat condition on adjacent panels. This stage is free.
  2. Method selectionThe appropriate solution among polishing, spot repair painting, or panel painting is recommended; unnecessarily extensive work is never advised.
  3. Surface preparationThe damaged area is sanded, body filler and primer are applied if needed, and surrounding areas are masked.
  4. Color matchingThe formula is prepared with digital matching and checked against the vehicle using a test spray card.
  5. Painting and bakingPaint and clear coat are applied and cured in a dust-free baking booth.
  6. Delivery inspectionThe vehicle is inspected together in daylight; color blending and clear coat surface quality are verified.

What should you prepare before visiting the workshop?

Take two photos of the damaged area in daylight—one close-up and one from a slight distance. If possible, also include the model and year from the vehicle registration document. Briefly explaining when and how the damage occurred also helps us; for example, whether there was previous paint repair can affect the choice of method. Photos sent via WhatsApp are always answered promptly.

When you bring the vehicle, we examine the paint thickness, condition of adjacent panels, and color type during the assessment. We then explain the recommended method, turnaround time, and price range; the decision is entirely yours.

What should you look out for in paint repair?

  • Compare prices not just by numbers, but by the scope of work: is it polishing, spot repair painting, or panel painting?
  • Inspect the vehicle in daylight after painting; shade differences and orange peel texture are best noticed there. Our delivery inspection checklist was prepared for this purpose.
  • Ask whether the paint is baked in an oven; oven-baked paint makes a significant difference in durability.
  • Do not delay addressing peeling or rusting areas; damage expands over time.

We do not perform paintless dent repair (PDR); if a dent has affected the paint, bodywork repair and painting are performed together. This page focuses on paint defects such as scratches, fading, clear coat failure, and shade differences.

Paint repair or complete repaint?

If the damage is confined to a single panel, panel painting or spot repair is sufficient. If the damage spans multiple panels, if the vehicle's paint has generally faded, or if old paint layers are separating, a complete repaint produces a more consistent result. When deciding, consider these questions:

  • How many panels are affected? With three or more panels, the cost may approach a complete repaint.
  • Are the other panels intact? If so, painting them unnecessarily sacrifices the original paint.
  • Do you want to change the color? In that case, a complete repaint is the only option.

Our article comparing the two options in detail, spot painting or complete paint, will make your decision easier. We will also clarify these same questions together during the assessment.

If you are not sure which method is right, send photos; we will let you know whether polishing or painting is needed.

Frequently asked questions

Can stone chips be repaired?

Yes. A small number of stone chips can be filled locally with paint mixed according to the color code. If there are numerous chips on the hood, repainting the panel gives a smoother and more durable result.

What causes a color shade difference, and can it be fixed?

If the color was not matched precisely during a previous paint job or if the paint dried under different conditions, a shade difference appears with the adjacent panel. It is resolved by repainting the panel with digital color matching and, if necessary, blending into the adjacent panel.

Can faded or dull clear coat shine again?

If the dullness is on the surface of the clear coat, machine polishing restores the shine. If the clear coat layer has lifted, cracked, or peeled, polishing will not work; the panel must be repainted.

What is the difference between machine polishing and paint repair?

Machine polishing does not add paint; it evens out the surface by lightly smoothing the clear coat layer. Paint repair, on the other hand, applies new paint and clear coat to the damaged area. If a scratch has penetrated to the paint or primer, polishing is not enough.

Will polishing remove a scratch?

Superficial scratches that do not catch your fingernail usually disappear with polishing. If your fingernail catches, the scratch has reached the paint layer; spot repair painting or touch-up is required.

How many days does paint repair take?

Minor damage takes 1–3 days, panel painting 1–2 days, and complete painting takes 5–10 days. The exact duration is clarified during assessment based on the scope of the damage.

How is the price of paint repair determined?

The price is determined by the size of the damage, how many panels are affected, and the type of color (solid, metallic, pearlescent). If you send photos via WhatsApp, we can give an initial quote; the final price is clarified when inspecting the vehicle.

Will the paint color match the rest of the vehicle?

The color code is only a starting point. Taking into account how the vehicle has faded over the years, the formula is adjusted with digital color matching and verified by holding a test card against the car.
